DR HIZIR MUKADDAM

Dr Hizir Mukaddam is a Specialist Anaesthesiologist with a keen interest in Neuro-Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain Management.

His undergraduate training was obtained from the University of the Witwatersrand following which he spent time in Family Practice and then Emergency Care in both South Africa and the United Kingdom.

He returned to South Africa for his Postgraduate Studies (University of the Witwatersrand), obtained his Specialist qualification from the College of Medicine of South Africa and spent several years as a consultant at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. He has extensive experience in various other areas of Anaesthesia (Plastics and Reconstructive, Maxillo-Facial, Paediatric). Notable mentions are his involvement as the primary Anaesthesiologist for the 1st and 2nd skin transplants in Africa (Pippie Kruger and Celiwe Maseko).


He has been in the field of Neuro-Anaesthesia since 2008 and is very active in improving his knowledge base internationally. Regular exchange of ideas and practices with various members of the European Associations of Neuro-Anaesthesia, allows him to bring the latest internationally practiced techniques into the daily care of his patients.

Ensuring a "Patient-centric" experience is of primary importance to Dr Mukaddam, while affording every patient the safest most protective care available. He is one of the founding members of the South African Society for Neuro Anaesthesia and Critical Care, a Special Interest group of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists.
